Busy April

I have been in Richmond for the past few days visiting my grandma, my aunt, and my uncle.  It has been super fun, but I have to go home tomorrow.  It is a 6 hour drive home.  On this trip we brought my cousin, so it will be a loud drive trip.  I really do not want to go home.  From my aunt's house you can walk to Kohl's.  I love shopping.  My house is in the middle of the woods.  I am going to miss being able to walk places.  My home mailbox is 2 miles from my house.  I wish I didn't live smack in the middle of nowhere.

Next week is going to be particularly eventful.  On Monday, I start my first play practice for the Fabulous Fable Factory.  I got a main role in the show- Gretel the Grammar Guardian.  I am really excited because I get to see all of my show friends again.  On Tuesday, I go to the Big Apple.  I am going with the county gifted program.  It.  Is.  Going.  To.  Be.  AWESOME!!!!!!!!!  I am super psyched, but we are traveling on a motorcoach overnight, so it will be a long and boring drive.  Luckily, my friend Abby will be coming as well.  We know how to party!  I am especially excited for the Broadway show.  We are going to see Mary Poppins.  It is going to be Practically Perfect in every way (sorry... I know a lot of show tunes from Mary Poppins.  And don't even get me started on West Side Story!).  This will be my second Broadway show, my first being The Lion King.  I am really excited to see what they do with Mary Poppins, because The Lion King was absolutely amazing.  I don't know if any show could be as great as Lion King.

Easter is coming up on Sunday.  I am not wearing a dress this year.  I finally convinced my mom to let me wear jeans and a nice shirt.  I am super happy that I don't have to fuss with a dress this year, because I hate Easter dresses.  They are in yucky pastel colors, and they always are stiff and itchy.  Every Easter it rains, so the nice shoes I wear with the dress get ruined.  Then I get mud on my dress during the egg hunt.  I am bringing my awesome beat up Converse with me for the egg hunt.  Why am I still doing egg hunts?  If I am old enough to protest the icky dress and ugly white Easter shoes and finally get my mom to surrender, then why am I still doing Easter egg hunts?  Well...  the answer is simple.  There is money in the eggs.  And you are never too old for free money.  The real eggs are the things I don't like to search for.  They smell like compost and vinegar.  And who ever thought up  "Hey!  Let's give boiled eggs to kids for a joyous holiday because kids love boiled eggs!"  Guess what, genius, kids do not like boiled eggs.  Especially boiled eggs that have been sitting outside in the rain and smell of compost and vinegar.  And does anyone else ever get a subtle vinegar taste in their mouth whenever they eat the egg?  I do.  It's gross.  Which brings me to the question, "Why do I eat the eggs if I hate them in the first place?"  Because if I don't, nobody will.  And then everyone will forget about them until the fridge starts giving off a funky odor and then the smell is still there after months of airing out the fridge.  By eating the gross eggs, I am doing a service to everyone.  You're welcome.

Adios,

My First Post

Hi!  This is my first post on this blog so I am very excited.  I hope that I can actually stick to this blog unlike the others, but I am rather confident that this will work out, so here goes!

I live in the wild and wonderful West Virginia.  In WV, we observe daylight savings.  Sadly, this makes me wake up at what used to be 4:30 in the morning.  This also has a rather unpleasant effect on when I go to bed; I now cannot fall asleep until what is now 11:00.  The mornings are very dark, and it is light outside until about seven.  What makes it worse is the fact that I have a horrendously sore throat, just in time for the regional spelling bee that I am planning to attend.

The spelling bee is tomorrow, and I am a wreck.  I have a sorry little tendency to not study until the last minute.  It is a habit that I wish to quit, but it happens every time I try to study for anything, whether it be the annual WEStest, or just a vocabulary quiz.  I put off the studying because I don't actually feel the pressure until the last minute, and this time the last minute happens to be the night before the big event.  I also attended the bee last year, and I placed sixth.  This time I am hoping to place in the top five, so wish me luck!

My day today was pretty much... meh.  Some guy rammed me into the door on the way to first period.  The door gave me a great big cut on the pinky finger of my right hand.  OWW!!  It would not stop bleeding all through first period, and the teacher did not have any band-aids.  Ironically, I have health first period.  On the bright side, we finally played a really cool song in band today.  Now it's stuck in my head and it will not go away, no matter what I do.  I got a 100% on a test in music appreciation, which is actually kind of like movie appreciation.  The test was on the movie Ray.  It was a really interesting movie, and I actually really liked the music.  I never thought that I would like that kind of music, but I caught myself tapping my foot more than once, and I absentmindedly started humming "Georgia on my Mind" on my way to seventh period.  I really thought that everything about the movie was magnificent.  Jamie Foxx, the guy who sings "Blame It", plays Ray Charles.  The acting was tremendous, and he even wore prosthetics over his eyes, because Ray Charles was actually blind.  I never seem to appreciate an artist until they are sadly dead.  The same thing happened when This Is It came into theaters.  Maybe I will finally contract "Bieber Fever" when Justin Bieber dies.  *insert evil laugh here*  I'm sorry to all those who are absolutely head over heels in love with the Biebs.  I am not a complete hater, and I do admit to having some of his music on my iPod, but I am not exactly a huge fan.

Well, thanks for reading my blog.  I am planning on posting more, so please visit my page again.

Bye for now,
Maddie
